Outside
Outside,
there is a secure stone-built outbuilding, which used to be
a byre. Bikes can be locked away overnight in the byre and logs
for the fire are stored there.
If
you turn right at the end of the footpath alongside the byre,
there is a pleasant area by Raven Beck which guests are welcome
to use. Following the short path around the back of the neighbouring
cottages brings you to Raven Beck waterfall. You can also access
this area by turning left out of the front door of Raven House
and turning immediately left again after Bridge Cottage. This
is Parish land and everyone is entitled to use it.
On
pleasant evenings, you can sit by the waterfall reading, chatting
or keeping an eye out for the local wildlife, which may include
delightful little birds called dippers.
Amongst the picturesque buildings here are the old watermill,
as shown above.
