Directions to Kirkoswald from the M6 northbound:

• Leave the M6 at Junction 41 (the one after Penrith) and turn right at the roundabout, 4th exit, following the Carlisle/Penrith signpost.
• After a few hundred metres, you come to a roundabout on the A6. Take the 2nd exit, northbound on the A6, signposted to Carlisle and Plumpton.
• At Plumpton, turn right off the A6 on to the B6413 and follow the signs to Lazonby & Kirkoswald. Enter Lazonby, go down the hill past the Co-op supermarket, under the railway bridge and straight through the village.
• The road turns 90 degrees to the left by the open-air swimming pool and follows the River Eden, turning right in a few hundred metres over the single track red sandstone bridge pictured below.

• Local convention is that, whichever direction you are travelling in, if you meet another vehicle coming in the opposite direction before you reach the brow of the bridge, the oncoming vehicle has right of way and you should reverse to let it pass.
• After crossing the river, you will pass St Oswald's Church on the right, set well back from the road, and will then enter the village of Kirkoswald. Details of how to find Raven House will be sent to you after a booking.

Directions to Kirkoswald from the M6 southbound (or A69 westbound - get on to M6 southbound at Junction 43):

• Leave the M6 at Junction 42 (the last Carlisle exit southbound) and take the second exit off the roundabout, along the A6 towards Penrith.
• Follow the A6 until you get to Plumpton then turn left on to the B6413. Follow the directions above from Plumpton to Kirkoswald. There are slightly shorter routes but this one is the simplest and the roads are better.

Directions from the A686 westbound:

• After you cross the River Eden to the west of Langwathby, turn right (north) along the B6412 through Great Salkeld to Lazonby.
• When you reach Lazonby, turn right and go under the railway bridge. Follow the directions above from Lazonby.
